Fresh Starts

I always love the promise of a new year. A fresh start.

This morning we started "school" for both my son and I. He decided to forgo the college classes he has been taking and I decided to get serious about my writing and real estate career. Our "school" is the kitchen table. We meet every morning from 9 am - 1 pm for "class". This morning we started the day by writing goals and making vision boards. Truth be told, I was more on board with this than he. However, since we are both artists and know photoshop well we did our goal setting/vision board in photoshop. I will share mine soon, as I feel that putting it out into the universe makes you more accountable. I don't think his will be shared, but suffice it to say that he is now hard at work with his computer tablet pen in hand, working hard on the art and illustration he hopes to master.

I signed up for a real estate class and reopened this blog after long being ignored. Quite frankly, the goal is not the blog, but to flex some long ignored writing skills to work on the ultimate goal of writing my grandma's amazing story. I've shared the story with many of my friends and my family is intimately familiar with it. It involves love, loss, courage, and yes, murder. Her story of strength and perseverance in a new country shouldn't be lost as the generations progress. It's been a life goal of mine to write it for some time, as some of my most vidid memories are hearing them in her broken english when I was a teen.

So, here's to New Year's and New Year's resolutions! May your New Year's be bright and your resolutions come to fruition! Happy 2023!
